Randall L. Geese
Randall Geese was hired in October, 2004 as Executive Director
of the Wheeling Housing Authority. His career in subsidized
and affordable housing began in 1981 with the Coshocton
Metropolitan Housing Authority, and he became its Executive
Director in 1986. He continued working with housing
authorities as Executive Director until 1998, at which time
he became a consultant with a national consulting firm working
with housing authorities across the country. In 2003, he
was employed by the Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority
and was employed there until accepting the Executive Director's
position here in Wheeling. Mr. Geese is and has been active
in a variety of local, state, and national housing advocacy groups.
During the past few years, the Wheeling Housing Authority has
implemented several changes. These include the HOPE VI
project which will be completed during 2005. This project
provided for the demolition of older, outdated public housing
units with new energy efficient units that greatly improved the
living conditions of the residents and the appearance of the
neighborhoods where those units are located.
In addition, the Wheeling Housing Authority has utilized
funding received under the Capital Fund Program to improve the
other public housing units it manages.
The Wheeling Housing Authority faces many challenges over
the next several months and years. The current budget
climate in Washington, D.C. is presenting several challenges
for WHA. As a result, all areas of the housing
authority's operations are being reviewed to ensure that we
are as efficient as possible and to continue to assist as many
families as possible.
