Resident & HCV Participants Notice

Posted 12/22/20

Residents:

Due to the current rise in cases of COVID-19 and our concern for residents and staff, Wheeling Housing Authority is reminding residents to take measures to slow the potential rise in cases.

Please be aware of and follow these mandated measures:

Per Governor Justice, it is Mandatory to wear a mask in all common (public) areas at all times. This means your nose and mouth must be covered when you are out of your apartment; in your apartment when others are there. If you have breathing issues, consider the face covering shield and limit your time in public spaces. This is a respiratory virus and you need to protect yourself even more if you have a breathing issue.

Except for caregivers, mail carriers, service providers (including those delivering food or goods), visitors are not permitted. You may have a family member visit, but this must be limited to 1 or 2 at a time and the time they are in the building should be limited.

The sitting rooms are again closed and public gatherings in the Community Rooms are cancelled.

Residents are not to congregate around the mail box areas, especially when the postal worker is present. We have been notified that if there are residents near that area, the postal worker will not deliver mail. Therefore, if you know the general time the mail comes, do not go to the mail boxes at that time; wait and go at a later time. When you go, retrieve your mail and leave the area immediately. Remember you must wear your mask, also we encourage you to utilize the hand sanitizing stations at the elevators.

When calling for a work order, remember that you are required to wear a mask the entire time WHA maintenance is in your apartment and you must remain at least six feet from them at all times. If you do not, we cannot perform the requested maintenance. We are hoping we do not have to shut down this service; however, if the numbers continue to rise, we will need to do so. If you have been told to quarantine and you are calling for a work order, you must disclose to the office that you are quarantined. We will address your issue as soon as it is safe to do so.

Offices are open by appointment only. Call your manager to set an appointment. Do not just stop by. And finally, please see the back side of this notice for important guideline reminders.

HCV Participants/Landlords:

The requirement for masks also applies to you. If you are coming into the office, please call first for an appointment. You must wear a mask. If you are scheduled for an inspection, you must wear a mask the entire time the inspector is in your unit. If you choose not to wear a mask, the inspector will not enter or will leave and your unit may fail on a safety issue. This could result in loss of your assistance.

Remember to follow the guidelines, which have remained the same:

Wear a mask when in public spaces or when near individuals you are not normally around.

Sanitize your hands frequently (washing with soap and water for 20 seconds is the best).

If you feel ill, stay home. If you show signs of COVID-19, get tested.

If you cough or sneeze, do so in a tissue or the crook of your arm. Dispose of a tissue in a trash can right away.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

West Virginia continues to be under the Safer At Home Executive Order. This will change to more drastic measures if the numbers continue to rise. Protect yourself and protect your neighbors.

Thank you for your cooperation. We do not want to see residents or staff sick and we do not want to see Wheeling shut down so we need to all do our part.
